Random Sign of the Day - Pharmaca Exposed Channel Letters

Written by William (Bill) Hayes | May 7, 2010 9:38:00 PM

Today's random sign of the day is from Pharmaca in Boulder Colorado. Pharmaca's sign is a set of Exposed Channel Letters. Exposed means you can see the neon inside the letter, and there is not acrylic face to cover the neon.

This is an elegant way to fabricate a channel letter; however there are a few things you need to keep in mind before you buy one of these beautiful signs. The first is maintenance. Maintenance on a exposed neon sign is significant, especially if you live in an area where it rains a lot! The rain can penetrate the bushings and other areas of the sign and cause it to short out often. We recommend this type of sign if it is under some sort of structure to protect it from the elements. We have done a few projects with LED Channel Letters, were the LED Rope was exposed, but found it very hard to work with, and the LED rope broke a lot.

We fabricated this sign for Pharmaca back in 2001. Pharmaca provides holistic pharmacy supplies, drugs, and women's cosmetics. It's a great store and we have done business for them for years. They have 3 locations in Boulder, CO. Table Mesa Shopping Center, North Broadway Shops, and one on Pearl St. You can find them on the web at http://www.pharmaca.com/stores/co/boulder-downtown
