Rosenberg Bagels has created a masterpiece of a restaurant in the heart of the historic 5 Points neighborhood in Denver. I can honestly say, the bagels are a work of art from start to finish. It's like Josh Pollack transported a piece of NYC to Denver. Seeing Josh work in his restaurant is like watching an artist paint a masterpiece.

Historic Blade Sign

Signdealz worked for over five months with Josh Pollack on getting the design package through the City of Denver's Landmark process. Through all the revisions and back and forth with the City of Denver Landmark department, two great signs emerged. The first sign on Welton St. is an amazing historic blade sign, and on the 26th St. side is the largest and most impressive canopy sign with channel letters we have ever produced. 

The Design

The blade sign's design was a throwback to a historical period when signs were terrific. Josh wanted us to do our best to connect his signs in historical context with old-world New York City. The Hot Bagels blade sign uses a combination of lighting techniques used since the 1910s. 

• Chaser Bulbs: Chaser Bulbs run along the street side of the sign is a series of LED illuminated chaser bulbs. The primary purpose of chaser bulbs was to light in a pattern to bring attention to the sign. The chaser lights light up in a pattern, usually going up or down. Unfortunately, the chaser is considered animation in the City of Denver, so we had to light all of them simultaneously.
• Exposed Neon: There are various elements of the sign that utilize exposed naked neon and exposed neon channel letters. Bare or naked neon is when the neon stands outside without any protection from the elements. In most cases, we use it for lettering, with a painted or vinyl imprint of the letter behind it so that it's visible during the day. The next use of exposed neon is in channel letters. With the use of a channel letter encasing the neon unit, there is some protection from hail or other objects damaging the neon unit. The returns or the sides of the channel letter help direct the light from the neon unit out the front of the letter. This effect is essential during nighttime hours, where correct illumination is critical. You can find bare neon for the words "Hot" and also for the crown on the blade sign.
• Rosenberg Bagels, located on Welton St, is a one-way street. The traffic is heading northeast in one direction, and the blade sign, and it's orientation allows potential customers to see the sign from blocks away. The sign is also exposed directly in front of a light rail station that will enable hundreds of likely hungry commuters to the amazing bagels prepared by Josh Pollack and his team at Rosenberg Bagels.
