BIG SMOKE BURGER | THE SIGN DESIGN

Looking at the Big Smoke Burger sign, it might look pretty simple, but the construction and layout of the logo is intelligent design. Here's why...

  • Readability: Plain and simple, the sign is easy to read from both near and far distances through the use of a simple block font.
  • Colors:The use of yellow is a smart move, not many franchise restaurants choose to use yellow as a corporate color. It's a really nice change from the constant use of red, black, and silver you see in so many restaurant designs. Yellow is a part of the red spectrum of light, so at night the sign is easily read from long distances. The Black "Big" and "Burger" are fabricated from Day/Night vinyl. Allowing for a black look during the day and they magically transform to brilliant white letters at night.
  • Layout: The compressed nature of the font and color combination of the lettering allows for a distinct differentiation from other restaurants in their category. The customer is definitely going to know the brand the next time they see it. This is crucial in a competitive market like restaurants.
  • Size: The sign fits well within the sign band and doesn't look too big or too small. We sign guys like to see really big signs, but we also want it to fit the space well and add to the overall appearance of the building.
